Local comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi will return home empty handed.

Salvado had been nominated in the Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards in the Pan African Comic Of The Year award category alongside top comedians on the continent including Basketmouth (Nigeria), Carl Joshua Ncube (Zimbabwe), Masapo (Lesotho) and Fernando Filipe (Angola).

The award was won by Nigeria’s Basketmouth.

Salvado who attended the award ceremony in South Africa had this to say, “The awards were beautiful. I didn’t win the award but super proud to have been a nominee. This recognition is a movie.”

Winners were announced on Saturday, September 9 at a ceremony held at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The awards seek to offer a platform for African comedians to be recognised for the important role they play in society.
