Nigerian record producer and singer, Chisom Faith, widely known as Rexxie, has found himself in a legal tangle in Uganda, as he disclosed his arrest via his Instagram page on Monday morning.

Rexxie, famed for hits like ‘KKP’, revealed that he was being detained by Ugandan Immigration authorities. However, he refrained from disclosing the specific reason behind his arrest, which he deemed as “unfair.”

Taking to his Instagram, the producer reached out for support, urging his fans to rally behind him with the hashtag, “UgandaFreeRexxie.”

In a plea for assistance, he wrote, “I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan immigration. Pls I need help!!”

This development follows the recent arrest of Nigerian singers Omah Lay and Tems, who were charged and detained in Uganda for performing at a concert held at Speke Resort, Kampala, on December 12th.

Despite COVID-19 social distancing regulations, the artists’ appearance at the event led to their arrest, sparking international attention.

Omah Lay and Tems were eventually released after spending two days in detention.

The circumstances surrounding Rexxie’s arrest remain unclear, yet the incident highlights the challenges faced by Nigerian artists performing abroad and the importance of adhering to local regulations and protocols.

As Rexxie seeks support from his fans and the wider community, the call for his release echoes the recent outcry for justice in similar cases involving Nigerian musicians on foreign soil.
