L’Oréal East Africa, a subsidiary of the world’s leading beauty company L’Oréal Group, has officially relaunched its iconic skincare brand Nice & Lovely in Uganda, unveiling a new innovation — Nice & Lovely Lemon Extract Body Lotion — specially formulated to brighten, hydrate, and nourish the skin.
The relaunch took place at Four Points by Sheraton in Kampala, attended by Hon. Evelyn Anite, State Minister for Privatisation and Investment; Victoria Karanja, General Manager of L’Oréal Consumer Product Division; Mr. Anil Damani, Managing Director of Dembe Trading Enterprises; and Mr. Aditya Kumar, General Manager at Dembe Trading Enterprises.
Doreen Kathambi, Brand Business Lead at L’Oréal East Africa, introduced the new product as a luxurious, science-backed skincare solution tailored to East African skin needs. “Nice & Lovely Lemon Extract Lotion is enriched with Vitamin C, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Natural Lemon Extract. It delivers 48 hours of intense hydration while visibly evening skin tone and enhancing natural radiance. Our insights show that 85% of African women are actively seeking products that offer long-lasting hydration and protection from environmental aggressors. This is our promise to meet that need with love, care, and performance.”
To celebrate the relaunch, the brand has rolled out a high-energy consumer campaign, “Paint Kampala Yellow”, designed to immerse consumers in the world of Nice & Lovely. The campaign will include product sampling, pop-up experiences, skincare consultations, and social media activations to reintroduce the brand to Ugandan homes.
Victoria Karanja, General Manager of the L’Oréal Consumer Product Division, spoke on the strategic role Uganda plays in the brand’s regional growth. “East Africa is a core growth engine for L’Oréal. Uganda stands out with its youthful population, stable business environment, and a fast-growing beauty and personal care market. The market is now valued at €90 million, with body care leading at 90% penetration. That shows a clear consumer need — and Nice & Lovely is here to meet it with trusted, high-performance products.”
She highlighted that the broader East African market stands at €535 million, with Uganda contributing a significant share. Of the 48 million people in Uganda, L’Oréal has identified a 2.6 million–strong addressable market, representing a major opportunity for growth and impact.
Mr. Anil Damani and Mr. Aditya Kumar, representing Dembe Trading Enterprises, L’Oréal’s distribution partner in Uganda, expressed their commitment to accelerating access and visibility of the new product across the country.
“Nice & Lovely is a household name in East Africa, and its return to Uganda is more than a relaunch — it’s a renewal of trust, relevance, and connection with consumers who deserve quality, affordability, and care,” they said.
Nice & Lovely Lemon Extract Body Lotion is now available nationwide.
