Finally, the jury has a final call. After years of arguments about this subject of the most beautiful Ugandan song, there is a clear winner.
It is none other than “Ngayaya” a traditional Tooro song that features on every wedding in this Kingdom.

The song’s lyrics are commended for their poetic depth.
This love song praises a woman in all aspects. In one of the lines, the man compares his lover to a papyrus plant that he has to harvest with both hands. It goes; “oli kafunjo komunyanja muhuma wange niko baihisa emikono yombia muhumawange.” Translated, this means; “you are the papyrus reed of the lake that they pull gently with both hands.”
The song beat thousands of other Ugandan songs from all regions, from all genres to emerge as the best of all time. Finally the Batooro have something to brag about.
