Following a day of insightful discussions at the Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC), the Ndere Cultural Center in Ntinda, Kampala, came alive with a vibrant celebration of Ugandan culture. Hosted by the esteemed Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among, the evening offered a unique opportunity for distinguished guests from across the Commonwealth to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Uganda’s heritage.

The night unfolded with a breathtaking display of Uganda’s diverse cultural expressions. The renowned Ndere Troupe captivated the audience with its mesmerizing Kiganda dance, a spectacle of athleticism and grace that showcased the vibrant artistic traditions of the Baganda people.

But the cultural tapestry extended far beyond dance. Guests were treated to a feast for the senses, experiencing the rhythmic storytelling of traditional music, the intricate beauty of Ugandan attire, and the delectable flavors of the Pearl of Africa’s cuisine.

“It was so humbling to perform for the speaker Hon. Anitah Among together with her deputy Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa along with Speakers and Presiding Officers from different Commonwealth countries,” shared Stephen Rwangyezi, founder of Ndere Cultural Troupe and Center.

Mr. Rwangyezi, whose vision nurtured Ndere for 40 years this year, clearly knew how to make a grand impression. He personally welcomed every guest with an organized Cultural Guard of Honour, offering a refreshing welcome drink in a traditional calabash before ushering them in with a captivating dance.

Uganda’s native stories, whispered through generations, came alive in the captivating traditional music and dance performances, leaving the guests spellbound. Ndere Cultural Centre also took pride in showcasing the tastes and savouries of the Pearl of Africa, presenting a dazzling array of the country’s food varieties, each dish an embodiment of Uganda’s diverse cultural identities woven through generations.

The #CSPOCatNdere hashtag buzzed throughout the night, capturing the excitement and appreciation expressed by guests on social media. Many delegates commented on the powerful impact of the cultural experience, highlighting its ability to transcend borders and build bridges of understanding.
