Ugandan rapper Daniel Kigozi aka Navio will today be in the sieve for Bigeye.ug analysts to assess in today’s Sinking or Shining episode. Navio started his rapping career in 2001 singing under the umbrella of the then hottest rapping group –“Klear kut”. He then embarked on a solo career in March 2008 starting up his self titled company ‘NavCorp Limited’, the umbrella company under which all Navio production is released to-date.
As part of the group Klear Kut, Navio was nominated for a Kora Award in 2002, and won a PAM award in 2004 for best Hip Hop Group.
As a solo act, Navio won Best Video at the PAM Award 2007, Best Hip-Hop Artiste in 2008 and a nomination for the hit single ‘Rukus’ in 2004 to name but a few. The Buzz teens also awarded him Best Hip Hop Artiste in 2008 and “Flyest Video” in 2009. The rapper has since remained the most decorated Ugandan rapper despite the rise of other equally good rappers.
With the rapper being nominated for Nigerian awards and Channel O awards last year, he still remains a force to reckon with in the game.
It remains the writer’s view that Navio has not at anyone time shown any signs of a drowning career, maintaining unwavering consistency throughout his career and therefore subjects it to debate; will he still Shine or Sink in 2014? Verdict yours.
