How many of you “Guvnoreez” I mean those 40+ can decode the term “Ndereya”?
How on earth could I get to know if it was not for Kowolsiki’s Bee-Dee and Joe Kats popping the idea to hang out at #CRN2, I mean Coca Cola Rated Next Season 2 at the National Theater.
Forgive me for the “lugaflow if you are a Guvnoreez. What shocked me that Uganda’s maiden playhouse had never changed since my school days. Hmm… Those fun days of national Music and Drama Festivals.
Is it because we are in the NO CHANGE ERA? What on earth are those self-imposing, old, side flood lights still doing in there? They appear like canons protruding from the Saba Saba that ousted “His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Alhaji Dr Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, CBE”.
Have these NPART’s, I mean Non-performing assets resisted to be removed? May they not be another target for these “Wastegate Mall” fellows, Afande Kayihura knows what I mean.
I kindly request Hon. Madada Sulaiman Kyebakoze formerly State Minister of Culture now, the Minister of State for Disability and Elderly “Atuyambe”. Hon. Maddada you should not forget charity begins at home—remember the late 80’s and 90’s when the National Theatre housed Radio Uganda Theatricals, the likes of “Mwami Kyeswa nga Owomye” The Greens, The Planets and the list continues forgive my waning memory.
All said, the efforts by the National Theater Management to REFORM are appreciated, but banange!!! Why move the entire gadgets from the control room to the upper auditorium using up most of the strategic sitting space. Can you imagine equipment –mixers and consoles like those used in the former radio Uganda Studios and control rooms occupying three-four center rows of the top gallery?
I thought Uganda had a target to Migrate from Analog to Digital Systems by December 2014. With what I witnessed, I am afraid that we are not on track, lest the ICT Ministry and the Telecommunications commission think of rescheduling the deadline.
Nevertheless, Kudos and Big-up to Joe Kats, Bush Baby, the New Vision and Coca Cola teams for the Good show!!!

Editor’s Note: The writer appeared at National Theater for the Cocacola rated next show after a period spanning over a decade.
