Singer-songwriter Naava Grey has revealed that she almost quit music in 2016 after facing intense criticism and personal spiritual battles.
The soulful artist shared her struggles in the lead-up to her first-ever solo concert, set to take place on Valentine’s Day at the Serena Kampala Hotel.
Reflecting on her journey, Naava admitted that the early years of her career were marred by harsh criticism from people who doubted her talent.
“They told me I can’t do it. That the industry has a lot of challenges,” she recalled. “But because I loved music, I kept going. Yes, there were times when I was depressed, and in 2016 I was like, ‘let me quit,’ but I got a spiritual sign and stayed on.”
The year 2016 marked a particularly dark period for the singer, not just professionally but spiritually. Naava shared that she experienced betrayal from people she trusted in the music industry.
“I trusted people with my music, but they sold my music without my consent,” she said.
