Guitar maestro Myko Ouma was at it again on Thursday night as he strummed people’s hearts at the monthly performances at The Sound Cup. The crowd was the usual type that always pitches up at the grand eatery owned by Maurice Kirya. It is a good initiative coined by Maurice Kirya himself in a bid to draw scores of customers and offering his two cents to Ugandan music. He gives the musicians platforms to showcase their works in a karaoke setting.
Myko, armed with his band, walked to the front, at the verandah of The Sound Cup at Garden City and oozed a delightful performance. He has, over the years, made his mark as the biggest guitarist around and, surely, it cannot be gainsaid. He performed most of his songs from Aye, a rendition by Davido, to Aluru. Whilst all this, people were clapping and some dancing to the sound of the guitar as they sipped slowly on their drinks, or munched their food. Or engaged in banter with friends. Or took selfies.
It is always refreshing at The Sound Cup when certain performances take place. The week’s stress is washed away. By virtue of the fact that entrance is free, scores of Maurice Kirya’s ardent fans come through to support whoever is performing on the night.
