In an emotional and deeply moving tribute, Naiya Ruparelia, wife of the late Ugandan tycoon Rajiv Ruparelia, poured her heart out as she remembered the man she calls her “first real love.”

Rajiv tragically lost his life in a car accident on Saturday, leaving behind a grieving family, friends, and a community he deeply touched.
Speaking at his cremation ceremony held in Kampala on Tuesday, Naiya broke down in tears as she addressed mourners, supported by loved ones as she delivered her heartfelt speech.
“Rajiv was my first real love. We had a bond that was complex, deep, and always real. I truly love him a lot,” Naiya shared. “He was one of those people who would fill up the room with energy, greatly magnetic and impossible to ignore. He had an undeniable spark.”
Naiya painted a portrait not just of a successful businessman and philanthropist, but of a man who was deeply loved in his personal life. She described Rajiv as a “magnetic soul, a loving partner, and an extraordinary father.”
Reflecting on the couple’s young daughter, Inara, Naiya added, “To many, he was a hero, a brother, a friend, but to his daughter Inara, he was her dad. And in her eyes, that made him someone extraordinary. I will always make sure she carries the best of him with her: the goodness he gave and all the light he left behind.”
