Mutundwe Lions has been relegated from the FUFA Big league to the Rubaga 4th football division by the Federation of Uganda Football Association’s Competitions Committee. Mutundwe were in the Elgon group of the FUFA big league. The comes after Mutundwe missed three games without giving sufficient explanations as to why the team didn’t turn up to play its respective fixtures.
“Mutundwe Lions missed three games and going by the FUFA Competition statures, article 25, section 8B, they are relegated a level down,” reads a statement on the FUFA website.
The decision to relegate the club was passed yesterday by Ali Mwebe, secretary of the FUFA Competitions committee during the weekly press conference at the FUFA house in Mengo, Kampala.
Mutundwe Lions is said to have been under the leadership of FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo, however, recent rumors around the club suggest that he abandoned the team. Sources close to the president claim that the club’s fans accused Magogo of wanting to steal the club away from them yet he was its soul financier and for that matter therefore he chose to abandon it.
Unconfirmed reports claim that Eng. Moses Magogo now intends to buy another club of his own. We will keep you updated on any developments.
