Joy turned into sorrow yesterday for Ugandan side KCCA FC in what was dubbed to be “a renewal of acquaintances” between the Kasasiro Boys and their former tutor George ‘Best’ Nsimbe and ex-teammate Brian Majwega.

The 1978 CECAFA Kagame Cup champions, KCCA suffered a 1-0 defeat in their first game of the tournament as they took on Tanzanian side, Azam fc in the Kagame CECAFA Club Championship in Dar es Salaam on Sunday to earn Mike Mutebi and Sam Simbwa their first defeat.

In a game where KCCA lucked sharpness in front of goal, John Bosco was the man with the early pinch in the 14th minute of the game which also turned out to be the match winner for the home side.

Despite all efforts from the Yellow Boys with Michael Birungi hitting the post in the first half, no good was yielded.

Now the two ‘Balangila’ (Mutebi and Ssimbwa) will need more than just words when they ask their players to up-up their game in front of goal.

KCCA FC will return to action on Wednesday when they play Ethiopian side Adama City. Meanwhile Uganda Cranes left winger Brian Majwega missed Azam’s 1-0 win over KCC FC with a throat infection.

KCC XI: Benjamin Ochan , Denis Okot, Habib Kavuma, Hassan Dazo Wasswa, Martin Mpuga, Hakim Ssenkumba, Micheal Birungi, Tom Masiko , Derrick Nsibambi, Muzamir Mutyaba and Joseph Ochaya

Substitutes: Emmanuel Opio, Owen Kasule, Ivan Ntege, Saka Mpiima, Timothy Awani, Shaban Kondoa and Dan Nsubuga

Kagame CECAFA Cup Championship Results:

Azam 1-0 KCC
Gor Mahia 2-1 Yanga
KMKM 1-0 Telecom
Malakia 2-1 Adama City
