heroinThe police held a gathering to witness the destruction of narcotics that have been collected since 2011 to mid-2014 that included marijuana, heroin, cocaine, metamophine worth 49 million dollars equivalent to Ugx109 billion.

It was said that most drugs were intercepted at Entebbe airport for the air users and some other parts of the country like Arua for road users.

According to Dr. Shillah from the Ministry of Health, cocaine has been so rampant among musicians who use it to gain confidence hence leading into lots of witnessed withdraw symptoms and death of some musicians, pointing out Michael Jackson. She also mentioned of the Ugandan musician who jumped from the 3rd floor of a building and landed down due to influence of drugs.

The influx of drugs was attributed to lack of cooperation among the East African countries and lack of strong laws in the country where the penalty of someone found in position of drugs gets one year imprisonment or pays not more than 1 million shillings. This has made Uganda a great route.
