A few months ago, musician Red Banton was arrested in Makindye for driving under the influence of alcohol. Banton has now been arrested again for DUI and an assortment of several other offences.
The “Sijakuva Kampala” singer who was driving along the Kampala Entebbe route was arrested this week for over speeding. Banton who was drunk and moving at a terrific speed was signaled by a Katwe Police officer to stop, he however defied the orders and sped off.
Police followed him and caught up with him after he was blocked by a huge trailer in traffic jam. Banton saw that he had no way to escape and gave up. “He surrendered and we took him in, he will now answer to court for his offences,” said the Katwe Police Commander.
Banton could face charges for drunk driving, evading the police, over speeding and refusing to obey lawful Police orders. He is now in a Police cell at Katwe. His Levin car which is in a dangerous mechanical condition has also been impounded.
