Veteran Tanzanian songstress Rehema Chalamila, better known Ray C, has revealed that promoters have abandoned her because she is broke.
The singer further divulged that she has shelved the plans she had made for her career following the desertion.
“I am left with the option of struggling by myself because all those whom I counted on have abandoned me,” Ray C told Bongo 5.
Expounding why promoters, managers and producers have deserted her, Ray C said: “As you know today’s music industry requires a lot of finances to shoot a video, promote the song and do much more. A lot of money is needed to facilitate the processes, and I don’t have that money.”
The Mama Nitilie star blames her financial woes on her struggles with drug addiction.
“You know too well I am a recovering drug addict, and I lost a lot of resources during drug abuse and rehabilitation. It is now I am putting my house in order,” said the outspoken singer.
Nevertheless, the celebrated musician says a few well-wishers who have offered to fund the shoot of the video to her new song have come to her rescue.
“There are people who have offered to do my videos. However, to be honest, the projects will be complete in 2016. I need to prepare myself better,” she concluded.
