Do you really want to get involved, Pink? Using International Women’s Day as her platform, Pink appeared to step into Kim Kardashian’s recent row with stars such as Bette Midler and Chloe Grace Moretz over whether or not it’s a good idea to flaunt your naked body.
While the “Just Give Me a Reason” singer, 36, didn’t actually name Kardashian, 35, in her Twitter post, her comments certainly seemed to be decidedly pointed, especially since they came just hours after the reality TV star had published an open letter defending her right to strip whenever she chooses.
The feud began when Midler, 70, and Moretz, 19, questioned Kardashian’s decision to post pictures of herself naked, after the mom-of-two shared the first of two totally nude selfies via her social media accounts.
Eager to defend herself against her critics, Kardashian published a letter on Tuesday, March 9, in which she talked about feeling “empowered” by her body. “I am allowed to be sexy,” she blasted.
Pink disagreed. The mom-of-one wrote a pointed message on her own Twitter page expressing her opinion that showing off brains and talent paid bigger dividends in the long run, even if taking your clothes off would result in earning more hard cash.
“Shout out to all of the women, across the world, using their brains, their strength, their work ethic, their talent, their ‘magic’ that they were born with, that only they possess,” Pink, who has posed for nude and topless pictures in the past, wrote. “It may not ever bring you as much ‘attention’ or bank notes as using your body, your sex, your tits and asses, but women like you don’t need that kind of ‘attention,'” she went on.
“In the quiet moments, you will feel something deeper than the fleeting excitement resulting from attention, you will feel something called pride and self respect. Keep on resisting the urge to cave,” she urged, before seemingly pointing the finger at Kardsahian. “You’ll never have to make silly excuses for yourself.”
