I have always ranked Vampino, formerly Vamposs, highly. He never disappoints. To me, Vampino is a complete dancehall artiste, completely cut out from the dancehall cloth. His husky voice coupled with a fine production of his songs always seem perfectly flawless for me. And he is flexible. Oh, boy, is he flexible! His unrivaled flexibility is evident in this song. Here, he is doing reggae. It is undoubtedly a fine tune. Something lazy and crisp, like a breeze passing through dried grass.
The video is not shabby at all. I like the setup. And the costumes, of course. He dons the common Dashika which makes him look more dapper than Oswald Boateng. Oh, yes, you never saw that coming. The video is shot in an unknown place. Only Vampino would tell. And the director of the video, but it comes off nicely. Good on the eye, good for the soul even.
There is something bewitching about people performing with a band. Am I being cuckoo? Probably yes, but look, staring at a band spewing out original tunes is like gawking at a stripper delicately and seductively throwing away every piece of cloth to reveal her full nakedness. You watch attentively. You never bat an eyelid. You sink in a pool of admiration. And here, in this video, Vampino wasn’t any different. He was with a band. And they cooked something delicious. Nothing is as a delicious as a reggae tune performed live. The music is alive. You feel it. You breathe it. And Vampino was clearly breathing it, living it. You could see that he was enjoying his time. This is a good video. If self-styled music purists try to give it to the dogs, tell them to have a life. Or form a tribunal and drag it to the bloody Hague.
