Naava Grey

By Nimusiima

She is arguably the best vocalist of this generation. And the best thing to ever hatch from Tusker Project Fame. From her repertoire of songs: Aliba Wani to Olinga Omuloge, Naava seems unstoppable. Soka Lami is cut from the same cloth. It is the definition of musical ‘eargasm’. Smooth. Flawless. And sweet on the ear.

She breathes to life a new genre of music, her own music, and if you have been keen enough, you will jump to a realisation that her songs stick out. Always melodic. Always with sprinkles of urban even when she sings in a local dialect, like the high tempo Aliba Wani.

Soka Lami is a kind, even when the lyrics are alien, that renders you to nod through it, whilst eyes closed. It is a kind of song that offers a redemption. It is a sweet song, so is Naava herself. And so is her unmatched voice. Good song, this.
