When his bitter nemesis churned out ‘Love You Every Day’ and it went viral, I want to think Bobi Wine sucked deeply on his blunt, exhaled and saw a plume of smoke crawl away in the air. He must have jeered in exasperation. Of course he jeered and pretended as though nothing happened. He, however, went back to his Magere mansion, smoked a few joints and started cooking something to respond to the video that gutted Africa like wildfire. After all, they always scratch each other’s backs, don’t they? Like teenage girls.
The long-awaited Size Yo video dropped. And to be brutally honest, it is an alright piece of visual art. Something you would expect the ‘Gladiator’ to come up with. Much as he is not known for good videos, this one, slightly, stands out. The camera angles were flawless. He shows a reddish vintage car. Hold a micro-blogging-second and take a fleeting detour back: do you remember Bebe Cool’s ‘Love You Every Day’ and its infamous vintage car? Here, Bobi Wine seems to copy and paste. Is it a sign of mockery? Well, who knows? These two are known for mocking each other.
The video was shot at a lake side; somewhere that looked like Speke Resort, Munyonyo, am I right? The Ghetto President chooses something different. His videos are always shot in shanty bantustans, but in this, he chooses somewhere highbrow. After all, he is saying Size Yo; an act of chest-thumping and self-hype, which you would expect of this lad. He has mastered the art of self-praising. And he comes off nicely. A pile of biker motorbikes are shown in the video. Later on, girls in skimpy garments are seen shaking their bottoms against the heavy beat in a makeshift smokey area. Size Yo is not quite bad, but still, it isn’t a kind you will expect on international platforms. Maybe it will. Fingers are crossed here.
