What happens when expendables embark on a mission in familiar territory? Awesomeness! This is what Ruyonga, Mith, Kahiri and Lillian achieved in this totally refreshing new joint. Armed with lyrical arsenal, the quartet brought to life a warm love song.
The song started off with organic and enriched tunes of a string instrument for the opening ten seconds. As the Mith’s intro ushered Lillian’s soothing chorus, soft pulsations of a drum accentuated the prominence of taut strings in the background. This went on and on except for the verses where generated chants provided the gritty surface for the rappers to lyrically thresh rose petals as they affectionately narrated the depth of their love.
The producer beautifully blended traditional elements into the song giving it a strong African aura.Kahiri’s voice sparkled like clear springwater splashing against rocks. His verses blended in English and Runyakore drifted my minds to the plush green terrains of Ankole…the stimulating thoughts a village belle sashaying her hips to the well while whistling a love song to her lover hiding in the shrubs. He ended the 4 minute 29 seconds song a high ebbing romantic juices.
The clean lyrics, and traditional auditory aesthetics gave a unique blend of sounds that is right in our backyards.
