Former FUFA president and Vipers Sports Club proprietor, Lawrence Mulindwa has hailed the performance of his team during their road to winning the 2014/2015 Azam Uganda Premier League title.
Mulindwa was speaking at Vipers S.C victory party held at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel in Kigo on Sunday as they celebrated their second league title.
“I congratulate Vipers for the exceptional performance all season round. I thank the players, technical team, the fans, FUFA organizing team (competitions) and the media. However, I noted some grey areas in the refereeing department. These need to improve amicably for the improvement of the game in the country,” reads Mulindwa’s remarks on Kawowo.com.
The former local football governing body president was also quick to critic the poor officiating of games by referees which he blamed on the federation in a parabolic statement.
He said: “When I was still FUFA president, the club politics were below me. Football today is about to rot because of poor refereeing. Above all, there has always been late appointments of match officials prior to matches. How do expect a referee to prepare physiologically?”
During the same ceremony, the club launched their official website, viperssc.com, along with four new summer recruits who included, Brian Nkuubi Ssemakula from Kiira Young, Shafiki Bakaki, Duncan Sseninde and John Ssemazi from Express.
Having won the league title, Vipers will represent Uganda in the CAF champions’ league next season with their training set to resume in mid-July.
