The Grand Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has urged the government to ban TikTok, citing concerns over unregulated content and its negative effects on society.

Sheikh Mubaje stated that TikTok has become highly addictive and is contributing to the decline of spirituality and moral values in Uganda.
He believes that the platform is a threat to the community and serves no useful purpose.
“It would be better if TikTok is eliminated because it is useless and poses a danger to society,” Sheikh Mubaje emphasized.
His call for a ban comes amid growing debates about the impact of social media on youth and cultural values.
However, the government has not yet issued an official response to his request.
Many Ugandans use TikTok for entertainment, education, and business promotion, but critics argue that it also exposes young people to inappropriate content and distracts them from productive activities.
As discussions continue, it remains to be seen whether the Ugandan government will take action against the platform.
