It has emerged that unlike PAM, Hipipo and other local awarding ceremonies where nominees don’t attend and go unpunished, MTV will not let Radio and Weasel’s failure to show up go unexplained. The duo missed the awarding ceremony which took place over the weekend at the Chief Albert Luthuli Durban International Convention Centre Durban, South Africa and was hosted by US comedian Marlon Wayans.
Apparently Radio and Weasel missed the occassion even when it was fully paid for by the awarding body. According to insiders their former manager Kiwanuka Jeff still runs the emails on which international gigs are conducted. Radio and Weasel camp explains that Jeff did not tell Radio and Weasel about the details of their travel but instead sent his own representative Bushingtone.
MTV has asked Radio and Weasel to give a very satisfying reason why they missed the ceremony even when their travel documents were sent. MTV has further threatened to drop the singers from the list of recognised artistes in Africa.
Radio and Weasel’s collabo with Kenya’s Amaani, ‘Kiboko Kyangu’ was nominated in the Best Collaboration category but lost to ‘Y-tjukutja’ a song by Uhuru Ft. Oskido, DJ Bucks, Professor and Yuri Da Cunha from South Africa.
