MTN Uganda has announced the appointment of Chief Community Officers (CCOs) to enhance its community engagement efforts.

The CCOs will play a crucial role in offering a better understanding of the needs and aspirations of communities across Uganda.

The objective of this effort is to strengthen relationships and MTN’s impact at the grass roots, both in terms of service provision and support for the socio-development needs of the communities.

MTN Uganda has today announced Fred Apuuli Kyahurwa as the Bunyoro Region MTN Chief Community Officers (CCO) in a bid to enhance its community engagement efforts. As the Bunyoro region CCO, Apuuli will play a crucial role in offering a better understanding of the needs and aspirations of communities in Bunyoro, and ultimately help MTN in executing a community-led strategy to serve its customers better.

“Apuuli has been our long-term business partner and we are excited to have him continue to be our eyes and ears in the communities of Bunyoro as we strengthen our ties with the people here. His primary role will be to engage with the communities in Hoima and identify ways to support them. This includes providing customers with phones on loan, improving data connections, and exploring other avenues of support beyond cash,” said Somdev Sen, the MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer said, adding that MTN is keen on supporting Ugandans’ hustles to drive shared success.

To better understand the needs of the communities in Hoima, Somdev and Apuuli visited various business groups on Thursday, including the Navika United Barbers Salon, the Boda-boda Association of Hoima, and the Market Vendors Association at Hoima Central Market.

Apuuli, who is also a distribution agent for MTN in the region, thanked MTN for the renewed focus on customers.

“MTN has over the years been a reliable partner to the people of Bunyoro based on the various projects that they have undertaken in the region to improve the socioeconomic welfare of its people. I am indeed happy that MTN is keen on maintaining and improving its relationship with us,” Apuuli said.

The announcement of Apuuli as MTN CCO follows the appointment of David Nsiyona in Jinja earlier this week. More CCO’s will be appointed to cover the entire country, as MTN continues on its mission to deliver the benefits of a modern connected life to customers everywhere they go.
