Movit Products Limited, through its Skin Guard and Baby Junior brand, has donated personal care and sanitary items to the Kibuye and Nakasero markets and vendors.

The donation, which is the launch of a series of support the brand has planned to extend to other markets around Kampala, will be made to 15 major markets and clinics as a means to further beef up the ongoing efforts by government and the market vendors associations to curb the spread of COVID-19.

While delivering his speech, Robert Kitenda, the Head of Marketing, Movit Products Limited said that the brand’s goal was to support critical social spaces that are both a hub for nutritional nourishment as well as a potential hotspot for the spread of the disease especially because of people who go there to buy foodstuff and other essential items.

“We cannot do without markets because they are the one place where we all go frequently to buy our daily bread for nourishment and to keep us in good health. Anything that happens to a market affects the community in a grave way and we thought it prudent to extend our support in the fight against COVID-19 to a potential hotspot,” explained Kitenda.

Speaking on behalf of the vendors at Kibuye Market, their Chairperson, Nabaka Harriet, said that, “Movit has come in to support markets at a critical time when most people are out of money to buy the basics of staying safe including hand-wash and sanitizers and are putting their efforts to using every penny to buy food and other home essentials. We are grateful for their thoughtfulness.”

In his remarks, the Nakasero Market Chairperson, Faridah Kimuli, observed that, “Movit has continued to come to their rescue in times of need and this is not the first time they are recipients in such drives implemented by Movit,” adding that, “We are proud that a home-grown and founded organization is standing by its customers during such times.”

Some of the markets scheduled to receive Movit donation this week include; Wandegeya and Nakawa.

In the same drive, Movit will be handing over more than 1200 Bandanas, aprons, Stickers, name badges and masks.

“Our business is people-centric and our growth and success is attributed to our loyal customers. It is therefore our duty and call to participate as much as possible in growing and developing the communities in which we serve through Corporate Social Investment, which is desirable in times as this.” Kitenda concluded.
