• Prize Money worth Shs100 million at stake
• Tour to comb all regions of the country for the best gamers.

The search for Uganda’s best video gamer is back under the Mountain Dew Xtreme Gamers Tour 2013. According to Mr. Innocent Tibayeita, the Head of Marketing at Crown Beverages Limited, Mountain Dew has sunk 700 million into an exciting and gripping nationwide search for Uganda’s best extreme video gamer with prizes worth 100 million.

The Mountain Dew Xtreme Gamers Tour 2013 kicked off in Kampala with a Media Gamers Battle at Kati Kati.

“The tour is an opportunity for us to bring to life our thematic campaign “experience extreme”. Under this campaign the brand desires to engage and encourage the youth to express themselves. They are bold, different, daring and adventurous. Mountain Dew is looking for Uganda’s best xtreme video gamer, a challenge that will climax with a grand finale on November 2, 2013 at Kololo Airstrip where the fans will experience great entertainment from Navio and Mun G, dj battles from Dj Shiru, Dj Aluda, Dj mark and Dj Roger. Fans that will not have taken part in tour will also be able to qualify at the grand Finale,” said Mr Tibayeita during the media launch of the challenge in Kampala today.

“To make the Xtreme Gamers Tour exhilarating, we have staked big cash prizes for all the categories, including racing, sports and action,” he said, adding that for each category, the winner will get shs5,000,000/- and a video game console. The 1st runner up for each of the categories will win a video game console.”

The 2nd runner up will walk home with an attractive Mountain Dew hamper that consists of Movie tickets, Beats by Dre, Mountain Dew steppers and more.

This year’s challenge, unlike last years, will also be taken to schools, malls, supermarkets, offices, bars and gaming tailored events throughout the country.

“Last year, the Mountain Dew Xtreme Gamers Challenge only focused on Kampala and its environs. Just over 1,200 fans took part in the competition but this time we expect to engage over 300,000 youth and gamers,” said Tibayeita.

During the tour, scouts will be looking for a specific number of players per category to participate in the grand final. There will be 32 players in the sports category and 64 each in the racing and action categories. The talent scouts for xtreme Gamers Tour include; Dani Musuma, Danze Edwin, Norbert Atwiine.
