The Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) recently appointed Boniface Mkwasa to replace Mart Noorj who was sacked after Uganda Cranes condemned the Taifa Stars to a 3-0 defeat in the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at the Amman stadium in Zanzibar.

The Dutchman was relieved of his duties following a streak of poor results having lost to Egypt earlier on by 3-0 in the 2017 Afcon qualifiers. Now Mkwasa will take charge of the Taifa Stars in the capacity of interim coach.

Tanzanian Football Federation president, Jamal Malinzi also confirmed that Mkwasa will be assisted by Zanzibar’s head coach, Hemed Morocco with his position set to be reviewed at the end of September.

Mkwasa, a former Yanga SC midfielder has been tasked to over a 3-0 deficit against Uganda in the return leg of the CHAN qualifiers with the game due 4th July 2015 in Kampala before leading his team against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in September’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
