Ahead of the Mavuno Yetu festival which is scheduled for the 13th of November, Miss Uganda Zahara Muhammad along with beauty queens from other parts of East Africa stormed the Lake Victoria Serena hotel-Entebbe kitchen to each prepare a traditional meal. The beauty queens prepared different dishes from their home countries that will be synonymous and part of Mavuno Yetu festival.
Mavuno Yetu is a Swahili word that is loosely translated as a “celebration of the harvests of East Africa”. The cultural event brings together individuals from allover the East African region and beyond.
The event will feature cultural aspects from Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Southern Sudan and Kenya sampling the best foods and drinks, enjoying the cultural dances and talent display. The beauty queens from the East African region were flown in to be part of the cultural festivals.
The local dishes like the Sombie dish from Rwanda, Meat Pilawo from Tanzania and many others from the region will be prepared by the best chefs and served at the festival. Local brews from region like Malwa, Kwete, Ajjono will also be served to the guests at the event.
“If you want to test the best meals and drinks from the region you shouldn’t miss this years’ festival. You should come and join us as we celebrate our culture,” said Zahara.
To be part of the Mavuno Yetu experience, individual tickets go for Shs 150, 000/- and couples go for Shs250,000/- with corporate tables going for Shs1.5M. There is also special accommodation offer of $150 a room per night inclusive of breakfast and taxes.
