When she was crowned Miss Uganda 2015, Nakiyaga Zahara Muhammed, promised fans to do all in her power to help the less fortunate throughout her reign.
The 23-year-old beauty queen has kept her word and is currently running several projects to help children with disabilities and the like.
Zahara who won mainly because she was confident and had relevant answers for all the questions asked during the competition, opened up to us on some of her current initiatives and what she has been working on.
“We are doing different outreaches with Reach a Hand Uganda, together with the organizers. We reach out to youths, advise them, talk to them about sexual reproductive health, and empower them to stay in school,” she said.
She then hinted on her philanthropic side. “We are also fundraising for children with disabilities and COSO, a rehabilitation facility, with the help of Mirinda.”
Zahara comes from a family of four, with two brothers, her dad is called Hajj Kiyaga and her mom is called Hajjat Mariam Nabirye. She went to Shimoni Demonstration School, Kibuli Secondary School and Mariam High School for her secondary education. She has just completed my bachelors’ degree in Development Studies at Makerere University.
