After taking a one-year break, Miss Uganda has returned with a bang. The beauty pageant has announced a new twist that will see the public get more involved in choosing the next beauty queen.

Through a partnership with  Talent Africa, an event and entertainment company, and local TV station NBS TV, Kezzi Entertainment who are the franchise holders of the Miss World Pageant for Uganda have announced that they are turning the beauty pageant into a reality TV-style show.

Brenda Nanyonjo, the Kezzi Entertainment director and Miss Uganda CEO, explained that the pageant will be televised at every step leading up to the grand finale so that the public is more involved in choosing the beauty queen who will represent the country at the world stage.

“This is a national pageant and we want the public to get more involved,” she stated. “The public will be able to follow all developments about Miss Uganda in a reality TV style show so that they can know the contestants better and watch their transformation leading up to to the finale.”

“The public will also choose contestants who will be evicted during the boot camp.” She added.

Meanwhile, Talent Africa boss Aly Allibhai has expressed excitement about the partnership with the pageant saying; “We are really excited to be partnering with the Miss Uganda beauty pageant. As Talent Africa we will be handling the events and business management side of Miss Uganda while the team at Kezzi Entertainment will be handling the pageantry part of the project. We plan to bring back the pomp to the pageant and make it one of the biggest annual national events.”

On a related note, Miss Uganda has also partnered with Sheraton Kampala Hotel to become its new home. The iconic hotel will host all of the events on the Miss Uganda calendar including the auditions, presentation night, beach beauty competition, sports day, talent night and the grand finale which will take place on August 10th, 2018.

“When we took over the Miss Uganda franchise in 2011, our plan was to hold the license for 10 years. So after organizing it for six consecutive years, we felt it right to take a break so that we could re-strategize and return in an even bigger way. We have now brought on board new and strong partners to carry the pageant forward.” Kevin Zziwa, the Director Miss Uganda franchise noted.
