In a bid to save the environment from intoxication, the Ministry of Tourism in conjunction with the Miss Tourism fraternity came up with an idea of washing cars as one of the ways to raise funds towards conservation. The funds raised will be used to clean up lake Victoria, which is Uganda’s largest lake and one of the tourist attraction sites, that is affected by pollution and water hyacinth.
“Lake Victoria is very dirty and covered with water hyacinth. We had no way of cleaning it because we had no money and that’s why we came up with the idea of a car wash by the Miss Tourism queens. We need a lot of money to do this so we have other ideas to raise the money to clean the lake. We are going to be doing this every 5th June since it’s the World Environment Day,” said Kanyike Allan, Chairman Miss Tourism Uganda.
Here are some photos from the car wash.
