Miss Earth Uganda is back.
The beauty pageant which is returning for its third edition was launched at an event held at Nanjing Restaurant, Kololo on Monday.
According to Victoria Nabagereka, the National Director Miss Earth Uganda, the beauty pageant is aimed at educating and encouraging masses to conserve the environment.
“Our environment is facing heavy degradation and if nothing is done about it, the future is gloom. This is why we came out with this initiative to educate masses about environment conservation,” she said.
This year’s edition will have 14 beauty queens from different districts who will be taken through a two weeks’ boot camp where they will be trained on environmental issues, public speech, personal and on stage presentation and will also get involved in different humanitarian and environmental causes.
This will culminate into the grand finale where the next Miss Earth Uganda queen will be crowned. The crowing ceremony is slated for Friday, August 25 at Nanjing restaurant, Kololo.
