This year’s edition of Miss Earth was launched under the theme “Beauties for a cause” at an event held at Kalifah Executive Suites in Bugolobi.
As usual, the pageant will focus on activities that highly promote the protection and preservation of the environment such as greening, recycling, tree planting, energy efficiency, eco-tourism and carbon conscious life style choices among others.
The pageant crowning ceremony will take place on 3rd September at Theatre La’bonita with 20 regions being represented on the national level as the girls embark on making sure that the environment is preserved.
Unlike other pageants where winners are given cars, Miss Earth winner will receive a plot of land which will be used to plant trees or anything else that helps the environment.
Miss Earth has also been embraced by several other countries on the continent like Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania among others.
