The recent announcement of Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi’s appointment to the Ugandan cabinet by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has sparked jubilation among family, friends, and well-wishers.

The renowned events promoter appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, March 25, 2024, for vetting as the newly designated State Minister for Gender, Labour, and Social Development.

In an interview following the vetting process, Balaam expressed his happiness and outlined his aspirations for his new role.

He emphasized his commitment to addressing the longstanding challenges faced by Uganda’s youth, dispelling notions of involvement in recruitment for projects such as the MK Project or the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

“I’m not in the cabinet to recruit youth for the MK Project or PLU. I’ve come to fix challenges affecting young people. I will reach out to young people in every region,” stated Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi to the media.

Balaam, known for his entrepreneurial endeavors, has long been a staunch advocate and supporter of the ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

His dedication to the party’s cause has been evident over the years, garnering respect and recognition within political circles.

Furthermore, Balaam’s involvement in the emerging political landscape, particularly with the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) headed by President Museveni’s son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has underscored his commitment to national development and governance.

The announcement of Balaam’s new ministerial position has been met with widespread celebration, transcending political affiliations.
