The energy in Kampala is rising as Rwandan Afro-soul star Mike Kayihura and Kenya’s celebrated singer Bensoul land in the city ahead of the Cartel Bizness EP Listening Party, slated for Sunday, July 20th at Silo 15, Bugolobi.

Known for his smooth vocals and emotional depth, Kayihura joins a genre-bending lineup of East African talent including Elijah Kitaka, Kamanzi, A Pass, Big Tril, and Tungi, all featured on the much-anticipated Cartel Bizness EP a collaboration between creative tastemaker Denim Cartel and hitmaker Axon.
Their arrival has sparked excitement among Kampala’s creative scene, with fans eager to witness a night where sound meets style. The EP promises a fresh sonic experience blending Afro-fusion, dancehall, soul, and East African rhythms, curated for a global audience.
Set to feature live performances, fashion installations, exclusive merch drops, and first access to the full EP before its worldwide release on July 23rd, the event is more than a party it’s a celebration of African innovation and artistry.
Hosted by Hype Cartel and Icy Sonia, with DJ Vanns behind the decks, the night is expected to draw over 500 creatives, tastemakers, and trendsetters, cementing its place as one of the year’s most culture-shaping gatherings.
“It’s not just an EP it’s a movement,” says Axon. “We’re creating a new sound and identity for East Africa.”
