Microsoft has said that it is making updates to Windows 8 more significant by delivering more frequent improvements.
At present, the company issues major updates sporadically throughout the year and minor bug fixes on ‘Update Tuesday’.
However, Microsoft now wants to spread out the contents of major updates, instead of offering one large bundle.
“Rather than waiting for months and bundling together a bunch of improvements into a larger update as we did for the Windows 8.1 Update, customers can expect that we’ll use our already existing monthly update process to deliver more frequent improvements along with the security updates normally provided as part of ‘Update Tuesday’,” Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc said in a blog post.
The company is hoping its new approach will allow it “to refine and improve Windows 8.1 in a more nimble way, creating a richer experience for all Windows customers”.
LeBlanc added that the move means there will not be a Windows 8.1 Update 2, contrary to wide rumours.
Microsoft is currently working away at its next operating system Windows 9, which is tipped to debut in spring 2015.
