Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has summoned former KCCA and Nkana Red Devils Football Club striker Tony Odur to join the CHAN training squad ahead of the weekend tie with Sudan.
The Express FC striker who scored against the Cranes during their friendly match on Monday has been called upon to replace Uganda Revenue Authority SC striker Robert Ssentongo who was excommunicated from the national team after missing multiple training sessions.
This comes after coach Micho had declined any suggestions on whether he would add a player to the team after Ssentongo’s expulsion.
“We believe that Tony Odur can give competition both at the match and training because of his experience and skills,” Micho revealed to www.fufa.co.ug when asked about the striker’s call.
Meanwhile, Odur returns to the national team after a long while.
“I will give in all what I have not to let myself and the coach down. The coach has trusted me because of my experience and current form at Express FC, I believe I will deliver,” Odur said.
The Cranes play SC Villa later today in their second buildup game before taking on Sudan at African Bible University Lubowa from where they will have a residential training camp, according to FUFA.
