The Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojević aka ‘Micho’ has named a 23-man squad that will be playing in the Cranes Namutima campaign as the national team takes its promotional campaign to northern Uganda.
The Uganda Cranes will be off this weekend to northern Uganda in their third upcountry trip in the Cranes Namutima campaign whose purpose is to promote the national team country wide. The Cranes will be taking on a joint team from the region at the Peace Stadium in Gulu town that is due this Sunday.
The 23-man squad is composed of 22 home based players and one professional player in the names of Isaac Isinde, who plays for Ethiopian based club known as St. George. The team will be involved in some drills on Saturday morning at Namboole stadium after which Micho will choose 18players that will be travelling to Gulu.
Micho intends to use this opportunity to pick about 7 home based players from this team that will be joining the others who will make it to his squad ahead of the Togo clash on the 11th of October in Uganda’s third game of group E in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers. “Players who impress in this campaign have a chance to make it to the final squad for the Togo encounter on 11th October 2014”, Micho remarked.
Having taken their first trips to Western (Mbarara) and North Eastern (Soroti) Uganda, trip sponsors, Nile Special, chose northern Uganda as the next spot after the Cranes had successful trips in other regions.
