Uganda Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic is happy with the quality of guest teams invited by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to participate in this year’s Cecafa.

The tournament kicks off on November 27 in Nairobi with Uganda due to defend the title they won in Kampala last year.

Malawi, Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire are the teams invited to feature as guests as Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye revealed in Nairobi on Tuesday.

The invited teams had not confirmed participation by press time but Micho is under no illusion the trio – if they appear – would enrich the tournament’s quality.

“Look, Cecafa for us is like a bridge to Chan,” said Micho, “And we are taking it very seriously as we prepare for Chan (due January in South Africa).

“And when you look at the guest teams, they have a lot of quality which will present our players with a very good test ahead of Chan.”

Uganda are Cecafa record champions having lifted it 13 times. The tournament is set to kick off on November 27 and end December 12 in four in four venues including Nairobi, Kisumu, Mumias and Nakuru.

SuperSport will telecast the matches live and every action will be covered on supersport.com.

Twelve Cecafa teams including hosts Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Sudan, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Zanzibar and Somalia have already confirmed their participation.
