Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, who is facing challenges in the absence of established midfielders, said there could still be a glimpse of hope to have Wasswa on the team.
“This country has invested a lot in Wasswa and his experience could be so vital for us,” added Micho.
The KCCA FC player was granted permission to go for trials in Qatar last month, but ended up in Vietnam where he reportedly signed a contract.
However, his club has maintained that they have never released the player and would only do that if there is an offer of US$50,000.
The experienced midfielder/defender, who has played professional football in Ethiopia, South Africa and Turkey, returned to the country two weeks ago, but has since decided to keep all his known telephone contacts switched off.
“I have tried to get in contact with Wasswa but failed. I only hope that he can settle his transfer to any league in the proper channels because it would be good for him to have a peace of mind. The chances of getting back to the team are high, although I have my other plans if we don’t have him back,” added Micho.
Besides helping KCCA FC to win the FUFA Super League last season, Wasswa also skippered the national team to victory in the 2012 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and for qualification for the 2014 CHAN competition.
