Renowned Ugandan musician Mesach Ssemakula has spoken out about how some people who once criticized his music as being “for the villages” are now among those who enjoy it the most.

Ssemakula, a respected figure in Uganda’s band music scene for many years, said that the demand and appreciation for band music have never declined, despite claims by some that it is losing popularity.

“The taste for band music has never changed. People used to say it was for villages, but now the same people enjoy it. Music is universal and should be appreciated by everyone,” he stated.

He also emphasized the need for equal opportunities for all music genres, saying that every style of music deserves space to grow and reach a wider audience.

Mesach Ssemakula is widely regarded as one of Uganda’s most successful musicians, known for his smooth vocals and timeless music, which continue to resonate with fans across generations.
