Melissa Mulungi, a Ugandan-born influencer and singer who was raised in Germany, has opened up about her deep desire to marry a Ugandan man and build a life that stays connected to her roots.

Although she grew up in Europe, Melissa says her heart remains in Uganda.
“A Ugandan man is my preference,” she revealed. However, she’s clear about her boundaries when it comes to relationships: “I don’t believe in investing my own money in a relationship—maybe in a marriage, yes—but not while we’re just dating.”
When it comes to family life, Melissa has big dreams. “I’d like to have five children,” she shared. But her mother has encouraged her to start small. “She told me to first have one and see how it goes,” Melissa laughed.
Interestingly, she would prefer to raise her children in Uganda during their early years. “I don’t want my kids to grow up the way I did. I was the only Black girl in my school in Germany. That environment isn’t what I want for them,” she explained.
Still, she sees the benefit of a balance between both worlds. “Maybe after secondary school, they can go to Europe for further education.”
