AfriKane is a Ugandan rapper and songwriter living in Norway but in just one year of living there, he has managed to make such a big impact that he has been called upon by the organizers of the Oslo World Music Festival to sit on a panel of a seminar on hip-hop and musical identity and culture where he is the only up and coming artist. The panel consists of four other artists including Stella Mwangi, Veteran and Grammy winner Don Martin among others. This is enough to show how talented our young AfriKane is; even with no accolades to show yet, he was called to sit among great artists and share views.
We spoke to him and he had this to say:
“Am extremely humbled and honored to see my career move up steadily yet I just got unveiled 2 weeks ago. I thank God, my growing fan base and my family.
Special thanks also to Swangz Avenue’s Benon Mugumbya in Uganda (he nurtured me as a young artist many years ago and it made me into the artist I am today), My promoter Mr.Mikael Musoke, Open expressions Crew (Oslo Norway) and lastly Eddy Kenzo for showing us fellow Ugandans that it is possible to shoot for the stars and be loved internationally (it is after his win that I finally gave music a shot here).
Am in studio right now working on my first single, so that’s something to look out for. My message to every young person out there is that if you love it, you can do it. Uganda we go, now is our time!”
