And the winner of the 2014 Miss World pageant is….Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss!
Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss, earned the honor at the international beauty pageant’s ICC London grand final, E! reports.
Strauss, 22, bested 121 other contestants – including runners-up from Hungary (Edina Kulcsár) and the United States (Elizabeth Safrit) – to take home the bejeweled crown, which perfectly complimented her curve-hugging gown.
The beauty queen is more than just a pretty face: She’s a fourth-year medical student (and daughter of a doctor and nurse).
“Everyone in my town called me little Dr. Strauss,” she said, according to E!
Strauss, whose studies were put on hold for the competition, said she’s dreamed of fulfilling her education and snagging the coveted titles since she was a little girl.
Contestants from Australia, England, Guyana, Brazil, Kenya, Mexico and India rounded out the top 10.
Strauss is the first Miss World titleholder from South Africa in 40 years and the first to win the competition in more than 55 years.
