It was great joy for all the SC Villa fans on Saturday as their club chairman Dennis Mbidde was voted FUFA vice president following a poll by all the Uganda Premier League clubs. The small event brought joy to the Villa fans who had unhappily left Mityana on Friday where their game against Express FC wasn’t concluded due to chaos.
Mbidde now replaces Mujib Kasule, the Proline chairman who quit after his club was relegated to the FUFA Big League at the end of last season.
At the election, Mbidde beat Tadius Kitandweto, the Vipers Chairman with whom he was battling for the seat.
“The FUFA general Assembly that will convene next weekend in Lira will be tasked to approve Mbidde’s appointment. Once the assembly approves Mbidde’s election, he will also automatically join the FUFA Executive Committee replacing Mujib Kasule”, reads part of a statement on FUFA’s website.
Express, Soana, Sport Club Victoria University, Police FC and Lweza snubbed the poll for reasons that remain unknown.
