He is handsome and unlucky. But that’s not the point. The point is, did he vow to love again in his new song Never Been Loved? Perhaps. The song is a lamentation of a lover vowing to love a girl like she has never been loved before. Maurice, here, seems to have opened the pack of feelings and poured them in the song. Never Been Loved is off his upcoming album Mwooyo. If there is an album that should change the musical scene, then it has to be this album. That is if Never Been Loved is anything to go by.
Maurice, in this, sticks to English lingua; somewhere he has established himself in over the years. And he sings with such ease. Maurice is Uganda’s Ed Sheeran, I want to think. A guitar is being strummed in the background, delicately, afraid to pluck out its strings and Maurice holds it with his sheer craftsmanship. His voice takes an octave, but he sticks his oars there; singing, crooning and assuring the girl that he will love her like she has never been loved before. The emotions seem real. Actually, it stirs the insides. The effortless melodies of Never Been Loved are enough to drag Maurice back to the music scene. A place he had vanished from and eased himself in a kitchen eventually. You will love this song for its rich lyrics and Maurice’s bewitching voice. Plus, the sounds of the guitar that waft in the background. Good song, this!
