Admit it, Maurice has been grappling with love, hasn’t he? The last time we checked, he had parted ways with a one Jemimah. But it seems, his new album has revealed skeletons in his closet. Having a brief chat with him recently, he intimated to me that the album is based on a true story.
So, having listened, keenly, to Nkooye, things took shape. First, it is such a good song your hand hovers on top of the repeat button. And the storyline seems to say that Maurice is tired (Nkooye) of lying to different girls; it is about time he settled and gotten one person. Does it ring a bell? Of course it does. It would because the hunky singer, who is always in company of smoking hot girls, is a living example that getting true love is like moving around with an egg on a spoon; it is tedious.
In the song, he alerts everyone, including journalists (the brass balls!) that he is about to settle, that he is weary and tired of roaming around aimlessly, breaking people’s hearts and having his broken in the process. Nkooye will render you nodding your head to the beat, for the most part, and while at it, you will make sense of it. If Maurice is tired, how about the ordinary John? Love, SMH.
