Uganda’s lead striker and South African based player Geoffrey Masa joined the local camp on their second day of training. As reported yesterday, the Uganda Cranes players who never travelled with the rest of the team to Kumasi for this Saturday’s clash against Ghana in the 2015 Nations cup qualifier are in residential training and were yesterday joined by Pretoria University based player Geoffrey Masa. The Cranes skipper joined the rest of the team as they had another day of training at KCC Stadium in Lugogo.
Masa was unable to join the rest of the team earlier and therefore couldn’t travel with first team as they departed for Ghana. This was due to the club commitments that he had and was for that matter released late on Saturday by his club Pretoria University but was asked to link up with the rest of the team in camp under Coach Frank Anyau at Sky Hotel in Naalya.
“I am okay with the training and I am in good shape because I have been getting playing time at my club. I guess I will be able to help the team in our next encounter against Guinea next week as scheduled,” said Massa shortly after training.
Interim coach ‘Video Anyau’ remarked his happiness about the turn up in the camp: “I am happy with the turn up in camp. The attitude is good and a very crucial element in such circumstances. The players are very positive, committed and the training is going on smoothly.”
Hamid Juma, the FUFA Technical Committee chairman, who witnessed the progress of the training was also happy about the team training yesterday evening. “The training is going on well. Massa has joined and I am happy to tell that he is in good shape,” Juma remarked.
