Uganda Cranes skipper, Geoffrey Massa who features for South Africa based side, Bloemfontein Celtics has heaped praise on the players following their 1-0 away victory against Comoros on Saturday in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
The lead striker also hailed the president of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who funded their trip to Comoros with $210,000.
“All the players, the technical and support team, FUFA, Government, HE President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni , media and our dear fans played a role in guiding the team to victory. Let us remain focused as we take on the next round of qualifiers,” Massa told the federation’s website.
Uganda beat Comoros by 1-0, thanks to a first half strike by midfielder Tonny Mawejje in a game played at the Mitsamiouli Stadium in Comoro.
The victory sent Uganda top of Group D with 6points from two matches before Botswana beat Burkina Faso by 1-0 to keep them second on the log with 3points while Comoros lag behind without a point. Botswana also have 3points in third spot.
According to FUFA, the travelling contingent of players and officials are expected touch ground at the Entebbe International Airport tomorrow at around 8:10pm aboard Kenya Airways.
