Kampala Capital City Authority’s attacking midfielder Tom Masiko returns to the squad that is set to face Burundi’s Atletico Olympic in the Kagame Cup today evening at the Kigali Regional stadium, Nyamirambo. The number 7 returns in a game that head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe said they have to win if they are to enlighten their chances of progressing from the group stage to the next level. KCCA are in group B which many described as a group of death with teams like Gor Mahia from Kenya, Telecom from Djibouti, APR from Rwanda and Burundi’s Atletico Olympic.
Tom Masiko played in their group opener against Kenyan champions Gor Mahia whom they beat 2-1, thanks to the brilliant goals scored by Brian Umony and Brian Majwega. He however missed their tie against Djibouti’s Telecom due to an injury during which they lost 2-1 after finishing the game with 10 men on the pitch after Ronnie Kisekka was sent off.
Masiko replaces youthful striker Derrick Nsibambi and is set to play as the number 10 behind lead striker Brian Umony. On-loan defender, Richard Kasagga is also set to make his first start for his new club as a replacement for Ronnie Kisekka who will be serving his ban after being sent off in their tie against Telecom. In other changes, Habib Kavuma replaces Simon Namwanja left back, new signing from Express FC, Rogers Lukwiya makes his debut for the club as he replaces William Wadri however ex-SC Villa midfielder Steven Bengo hasn’t been named in the squad.
The FUFA super league (FSL) champions must win or at least pick draw from today’s tie to maintain their chances of progressing to the quarter finals.
